January 2024

This year began with an amazing trip to Lake Junaluska, NC so see our very dear lifelong friends, the Samilians (who happen to be some of the biggest fans of this blog)!

John and I also celebrated our 17th and 7th birthdays this month! For John’s birthday he invited his friends to go bowling. He had a lot of fun!

One of the highlights of this month was the 6 inches of snow that we got! This once or twice a year experience is always so special. The lowest temperature that it reached was -1 degrees, and the lowest wind-chill was around -15! Every time it snows, I’m reminded of these verses of Psalm 147: “He sends His command to the earth; His word runs swiftly. He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes. He hurls down His hail like pebbles. Who can withstand His icy blast? He sends His word and melts them; He stirs up His breezes, and the waters flow.” – Psalm 147:15-18

Just like the verse above says, when temperatures returned to normal, the snow melted, and the waters flowed.

We’ve been having to run our stove pretty much constantly these days with the low temperatures.

These winter months are always slow ones for us. There’s not much to do around the farm, so its a good time to work on indoor projects. A friend from church, who is a skilled woodworker, has been helping us build a bookshelf above the windows in the living room. Eventually we’ll have matching bookshelves along the other wall as well, from the floor to the ceiling!

Visiting our dear friends from church, the Kauffman’s, is always wonderful! And this time we had the privilege of going to one of Cheyenne and William’s basketball games!

That’s it for this month, and as always, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
